Don Nathan has been the Director of Bands at WKHS since 2006 and has worked at all levels in Worthington since 1989. Under Mr. Nathan’s direction the Worthington Kilbourne Wind Ensemble has been chosen to perform at the National Band and Orchestra Festival at Carnegie Hall in 2008 and 2012, the 2011 OMEA/MENC regional conference, and the 2017 OMEA Conference. He has instituted an active commissioning program which includes works from John Mackey and Roger Cichy among others. The band has worked with clinicians such as Frank Ticheli, H. Robert Reynolds, Milt Allen, and Russel Mikkelson.

Previously, Mr. Nathan was the Director of Bands at Reynoldsburg High School in Ohio and South Salem High School in Salem, Oregon. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music with and emphasis in instrumental conducting from The Ohio State University where his principal teachers were Donald McGinnis and Craig Kirchhoff.

Mr. Nathan is a clarinetist, formerly holding the principal chair in the Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. He is a Pyne-Clarion performing artist on clarinet. In 2008, Mr. Nathan was honored with the Johnstone Woodwind Master Teacher Award as the Ohio woodwind teacher of the year. He is the founder and director of the Central Ohio Honors Clarinet Choir and the Orchestra Director at Grace Polaris Church.
